12V 314Ah Lithium Battery FAQs for Australian Caravans & RVs
Yes. This 4.02kWh deep-cycle LiFePO4 battery is designed for mid-to-large caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and 4WD canopy systems. It is especially suitable for Australian Free Camping, Big Lap touring and extended off-grid stays.
The battery measures approximately 524 × 245 × 220mm and weighs 28kg, so check your battery compartment dimensions and load capacity before ordering. It is a house battery and must not be used as an engine-starting battery.
The battery stores 4,019Wh, or approximately 4.02kWh, calculated from 12.8V × 314Ah. This gives caravan and motorhome owners significantly more energy in a single battery than smaller 100Ah or 200Ah systems.
The energy available from an AC outlet will be slightly lower because of inverter efficiency, cable losses, temperature and the battery reserve you choose to maintain.
The 300A BMS supports up to 3,840W of continuous DC output. It can power common touring loads including a caravan fridge, LED lighting, water pump, TV, laptops, Starlink and device charging.
When paired with a suitably rated pure sine-wave inverter, it can also support appliances such as a coffee maker, microwave, hair dryer and some small air conditioners. Always check the combined running wattage and startup surge before operating several high-powered appliances together.
Runtime depends on the appliance load, inverter efficiency and available solar charging. A useful estimate is:
Runtime = Battery Energy × Inverter Efficiency ÷ Appliance Load
Assuming approximately 90% inverter efficiency, one battery may provide around:
- 36 hours at a constant 100W load
- 7.2 hours at 500W
- 3.6 hours at 1,000W
- 1.8 hours at 2,000W
These are planning estimates. Fridges cycle on and off, while air conditioners and heating appliances can consume substantially more energy.
Use your expected daily energy consumption and solar input as the main guide:
- 1 battery — 4.02kWh: Couples, weekend touring and standard RV loads
- 2 batteries — 8.04kWh: Recommended for the Big Lap and longer Free Camping stays
- 3 batteries — 12.06kWh: Family touring and multiple appliances
- 4 batteries — 16.08kWh: Large motorhomes and extended off-grid use
For a 12V system, up to four matched batteries can be connected in parallel. Always use batteries of the same model, age, capacity and state of charge.
For most caravan and motorhome installations, a 2,000–3,000W pure sine-wave inverter is the practical range. A 2,000W inverter is suitable for most kitchen and touring appliances, while a 3,000W model provides more flexibility for higher-powered loads.
The inverter’s continuous rating, startup surge, cable size, fuse and isolator must all match the system. A 300A BMS does not mean every appliance can run simultaneously. Professional installation by a qualified auto electrician or RV installer is recommended.
Yes. The battery can be charged using a LiFePO4-compatible AC charger, MPPT solar charge controller or DC-to-DC charger.
Its recommended charging voltage is 14.6V ± 0.2V. A 60A LiFePO4 charger can recharge a nearly empty battery in approximately 5.5–6 hours under ideal conditions.
For alternator charging, use a correctly sized LiFePO4 DC-to-DC charger. Do not connect the battery directly to an alternator unless the vehicle and charging system are specifically designed for it.
The smart BMS provides protection against excessive current, short circuits, cell imbalance and high or low temperatures. Bluetooth monitoring allows you to check battery status from your smartphone.
The battery also features an IP65-rated enclosure, a flame-retardant ABS+PC case, an internal aluminium support frame and improved heat dissipation. IP65 means dust and water resistance—not permanent outdoor exposure or submersion.
Available compliance documentation includes IEC, UN 38.3, CE-EMC, CE-RoHS, CE-Battery, FCC SDoC and CE-RED. Listed cell certifications also include UL1642 and UL2580. The battery includes a 5-year warranty, extendable to 7 years after product registration.
